Out and About in Bountiful, UT.
Craig’s Services makes suggestions for events about town (and on-line!)
Hello, Bountiful, Utah! It’s us again, Craig’s Services, your go-to source for HVAC (heating and cooling), furnace tune-ups, duct cleaning, and IAQ (indoor air quality) solutions in the Salt Lake City area. Mother Nature can be unpredictable, but whether her weather is inclement or easy, we hope you’ve been comfortable and supported by a well-tuned furnace, and excellent IAQ. If not, you know who to call (hint: (801) 295-3357 www.craigsservices.com). While it’s never too early to start thinking (or dreaming) about warm weather, the gorgeous season of renewal, and your Spring to-do list, before you do, how about donning that big Winter coat one last time, masking up (masks are like hats for your face) and heading out to support some local events and businesses in our sweet little corner of the world? Here’s a list of some events (both online and off) to get you warmed up. (If your indoor air isn’t warmed up, however, please refer to the phone number/website, above.)
Antarctic Dinosaurs Exhibition (ends 4/3)
There’s nothing like accessing the most “inhospitable and isolated continent on earth” to put life into perspective. Explore the fossils, animals, and dinosaurs that roamed the prehistoric world at Natural History Museum of Utah at the Rio Tinto Center. The immersive exhibition will bring you face-to-face with the towering Antarctic dinosaurs, allow you a close-up look into the once-thriving Antarctic Circle, and even let you try out fossil extracting tools. Ticket reservations are required.
4/3 (weekly) – Gentle Yoga for Terrible Times
We’ve mentioned this one once before, but we thought it was worth another mention. It’s the name that got us. There’s nothing like yoga with a sense of humor, and though we all fight to stay positive, sometimes admitting times are terrible is the first step in making them better! This weekly practice, comprised of simple breathing exercises, stretches, and guided meditation is designed for all bodies, minds, and spirits, and no experience is necessary. The goal of the class is “to help you find a small bit of peace and relaxation during a scary and stressful time.” Let an hour of gentle yoga make things a lot less terrible. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/gentle-yoga-for-terrible-times-tickets-107646048228?aff=ebdssbonlinesearch
Read the Heavens: Intersections of the Human and Divine (through 11/30/21)
In contrast to the Antarctic dinosaurs, comes this art show at Brigham Young University Museum of Art, which examines those moments in which mankind is brought into the communion or recollection of the Divine, inspired by the 200th anniversary of the First Vision of the Prophet Joseph Smith, in 2020.The exhibition features dozens of masterworks ranging from the 17th century to contemporary pieces, and features many artists, including Minerva Teichert, Maynard Dixon, C.C.A. Christensen, Dorothea Lange, Frans Schwartz, Norman Rockwell, Rembrandt, and others.
Adult Oil Painting (Online) 4/14
We realize the phrase, “from the comfort of your own home” may have lost some of its luster over the past year. However, if you’re interested in creating some paintings of your own (of divine encounters, or otherwise), you can feel free to “mess up, be bad, make mistakes” from “the comfort of your own home”, with this convenient online course. You’ll learn oil painting basics including color, shape, form, and composition, starting with still life compositions, then moving toward surrealist and impressionist works. Don’t have the brushes? Students will receive all supplies in the mail before classes begin. If you miss a class, each class will be recorded so you choose the time that works best for you.
We hope these suggestions have inspired you, and that your month is filled with hope and renewal! If your furnace needs a tune-up or you want to make sure your IAQ is the healthiest it can be, give us a call at (801) 295-3357 or visit our website at www.craigsservices.com to schedule a visit!
